DATE CORRECTION: Book Donations Needed for Annual Charlie Brown Book Sale
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The students of Vandergriff Elementary are collecting used books for their annual Charlie Brown Book Sale. The event is the single largest annual fundraiser for the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. Vandergriff teacher, Sherri Wheeler, initiated the book sale more than 10 years in honor of her chocolate lab named Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown passed away in 2015 and this year’s book sale is in honor of the countless smiles and immense joy he brought over the years to schoolchildren, adult and of course, his loving owners. Over the years, the sale has raised over $25,000 for Fayetteville Animal Services. “This event promotes two great things – reading and supporting the homeless pets in our community,” said Justine Lentz, shelter superintendent.
Gently used children’s and adult books may be dropped off at the front office of the school (by April 28) or at the Lib Horn Animal Shelter of Fayetteville (by April 29) located at 1640 S. Armstrong Avenue. Please no textbooks or magazines. Each year the community donates between 13,000 and 15,000 books to this amazing event.
The sale will be held May 3 and May 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and
May 6 May 5
from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Vandergriff Elementary (2975 E. Township Street). All children’s books are fifty cent; adult books are one dollar for hardbacks and fifty cents for paperbacks
