Lane Closures for Median Work on College and Garland Avenues
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Transportation crew will be working in the medians of:
- Garland Avenue – between W. Holly Street and Melmar Drive
- College Avenue – between Lafayette and Dickson Streets
Wednesday, November 8 through Wednesday, November 15 during the work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Northbound and southbound inside lanes adjacent to the medians will be closed. Please use extreme caution when in the work area and watch for personnel and equipment.
These median areas were selected for a maintenance pilot project last year comparing native plants and milkweed to turf grass. The approach for the College Avenue medians proved more successful than the Garland Avenue medians due to previous maintenance, topsoil quality and using gallon-sized plants instead of seeds. The Transportation Department staff will continue to work with the City’s Urban Forestry staff on the Garland Avenue medians to minimize weeds while establishing healthy natives.
On the behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as we perform our work in this area. For additional information on the project, please contact the City of Fayetteville Transportation Division office at 479-575-8228. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
