City Seeks Public Input About Short-Term Rental Regulation
 
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— In July 2019, Fayetteville City Council adopted a resolution directing staff to study and develop an ordinance regarding short-term rentals. A short-term rental is the leasing of a furnished residential dwelling on a short-term basis, generally less than 30 days. These are commonly known as Airbnb, VRBO, HomeAway, etc.
 
As a starting point, City staff created a focus group, meeting with “hosts” and non-hosts to hear comments. City staff would like to learn more from the community and is holding a public meeting on Monday, September 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room 326 at City Hall (113 W. Mountain St.).
 
The meeting will use a SWOT Analysis approach, asking attendees about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of short-term rentals and regulation. There will be a general discussion at the end of the meeting.
 
The City invites the community to participate online as well. Current documents can be viewed and comments can be made at Speak Up Fayetteville, the City’s online engagement portal: www.fayetteville-ar.gov/speakup.
